School Council

Message from the School Council President

Hello everyone, my name is Karen Jansen and I’m very proud to represent Weeden Heights as the School Council President this year. You may know me better as the Mum of Stephanie and Alicia in Grade 4. Ever since they started as Preps we have felt extremely fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community where students across all grades socialise and learn together and families lookout for each other. In particular we have been grateful for the dedication of Kylie and her amazing staff and wanting to support them was a big part of my decision to join school council initially and to take on the President role this year.

I’ve always enjoyed volunteering roles and serving on the school council allows me to work with a team of fantastic council members and get involved in many aspects of running our school. I also love having a chat to other parents whether it be a social night, special assembly or school pick up. A group of us are now meeting at the front of the school most Friday afternoons (when the weather allows), which gives the kids a chance to have a bit of a play together while the parents have a catch up. Please feel free to come and say hi anytime you see me about whether you would like to find out more about school council, raise something with me or just have a social chat. I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming year.
