Mother's / Special Women’s Day Week

To celebrate the loving and caring mother’s and women in our children’s lives, this week the P&F committee will be hosting and running a stall and breakfast event.

Stall– on WEDNESDAY 5th MAY, each student will be given the opportunity to purchase their Mum, Grandmother, Special Woman a gift of gratitude. Prices of gifts will vary in range from $1 to $6, and there will be a huge selection available for purchase. We kindly ask that you support your child in this process by supplying them with money to bring on the day of the stall and a bag to carry their purchased items in. Children can purchase as many items as they wish, not only for their mother, but for their grandmothers or any other special women in their lives too. The children love this event and take pride in purchasing their loved one/s the BEST GIFT EVER. It brightens our day to see their happy little faces at the stall and we thank-you in advance for your support with this fundraising event.

Breakfast – On Friday 7th May, the P&F will be hosting a breakfast gathering to further celebrate the wonderful women that make up our St. Fidelis community. Orders and attendance for this event have now CLOSED. The P&F members look forward to seeing some of you there, and are eager to get know each of you better accompanied by some yummy food and a nice cuppa! To those of you attending, a reminder that you will receive the following:

  • Individualised breakfast boxes (fruit salad, muesli cup, danish, savoury muffin and sweet muffin). Apologies – no alterations can be made.
  • Tea/Coffee
  • Freshly baked Scones with condiments, supplied by ‘The Village Bakery’.
  • Door prizes to be won!

** Please note, due to COVID-19 restrictions that are still in place, we are unable to include school children in the breakfast event. However, in place of this, the P&F are setting up TWO photo opportunity areas (one in Saunders yard and one outside the Senior Learning Area) for you to take a picture with your children as a memorable Mother’s Day reminder. Weather pending - the photo spaces will be available for use pre-school (from 8am) and then again after school (from 3:30pm). Simply bring your phone, your best smiles and strike a pose in front of the backdrops. We look forward to seeing you at the breakfast. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Josie Servello on 0421 076 580. Thank you.

Lunch Order Day

The first lunch order day is scheduled for Friday 14th May – by now you should have received a flyer with the following details:

  • Jump on to Quickcliq to place your order, orders close 11:59pm Monday 10th May.
  • Sushi available from ‘Sushi Sushi’, assorted flavours for $3.20 each.
  • Large Sausage Roll from ‘The Village Bakery’ for $4 each.
  • Iced Cupcakes from ‘Coles’ and ‘Food Family Passion’ for $1.20 each.

A reminder also (from the principal, deputy principal and P&F) that this event is NOT compulsory, however if you choose not to order your child a meal, please refrain from delivering food items to the school. Instead, you could consider packing a ‘special lunch’ in your child’s lunchbox. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns please email parentsandfriends.stfidelis@gmail.com

St. Vinnie’s Winter Appeal

Between May 17th – June 17th, Dan Sportelli, will be leading the St. Vinnie’s Winter Appeal. This drive is such an important event as it teaches our students how to lead as good Christians and assist those less fortunate than us. Details for the workings of this drive will follow in upcoming newsletters. We thank-you in advance for your support with this appeal.

Second Hand Uniform Sale

At our next P&F meeting we will gather and discuss the next uniform stall date. Please keep your eyes and ears open for SkoolBag announcements and check in regularly with this weekly newsletter. We thank you for your continued support with this event and ask that you continue to drop off your children’s preloved school uniforms for re-sale at the next stalls.

And in case you missed this last week…

Term 1 Funds Distribution

Before I invite you to observe the AMAZING funds raised (per event) for Term 1, I would again like to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to ALL of you for your continued support with each of the P&F fundraising events. We should all be very proud of our combined efforts as these funds continue to provide our children with improved learning spaces and access to a greater depth of resources. Well done St. Fidelis community, let’s keep the ball rolling…

Funds Summary: As mentioned in a previous newsletter by our principal Mrs Watson, “whilst the primary goal of P&F events is to further establish friendship amongst our families and staff, the funds raised at these events are especially important for school upkeep and extra educational needs”. The school goal for 2021 is to use these funds towards the following:

  • Completion of the STEM learning space – including funding for 3D printers, The ‘Machine and Mechanism’ Lego Education, more iPads, cameras and chrome books.
  • Improvement of LIBRARY space – addition of contemporary new shelving, cosy furnishing for reading areas, upgrade of picture books and take-home books for students.

Without mention, we can see that the cost of the listed items can be quite expensive, and with limited government funding it can be hard to reach the monetary goals required. So again, THANK YOU for an already AMAZING Term 1 injection of funds, it goes without saying that the students of St. Fidelis have some exciting things coming their way 😊

Also – a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to the following community companies: IGA Xpress Moreland Road AND Bunnings Coburg who have very kindly donated bank cheques, which will financially support us in the purchase of new shed and garden tools to help with the upkeep of school grounds throughout the year. The saying goes “it takes a village to raise a child” and how lucky are we to be in such a supportive and caring ‘village’ – our immediate and extended school community make all the difference! Well done everyone!
