Upcoming Learning Conferences to be held onsite
Student learning conferences are coming up on Wednesday 31 March, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm and will be held onsite. Learning conferences are an opportunity for a three-way conversation between parents, students and teachers. Students should reflect on their efforts and discuss future learning goals and challenges with their parents and teachers. As active participants in their own education, students are expected to attend the learning conferences with you.
Bookings for individual learning conference appointments are now open via Compass and will close at 4:00pm on Tuesday 30 March. To optimise your learning conference experience, we recommend that you leave a substantial break between bookings with teachers and use the map provided to consider the distance between their locations to ensure you have enough time to meet with everyone you would like to. Progress reports will be available to download via Compass on 24 March.
In order to ensure that we are Covid safe, there will be restrictions on the number of people permitted in the classrooms for the conferences in order to meet the density limits prescribed therefore, we ask that only current Brentwood students and one parent attend the learning conferences.
Upon entry you will be asked to register your attendance via a QR code to be provided and to wait outside of classrooms practising social distancing from others onsite until your scheduled booking. Teachers will invite you into the room for your meeting and masks are recommended.
If you have any questions about learning conferences please contact the college.
Assessment & Reporting 2021
At the end of 2020 we conducted a review of our assessment and reporting practices which involved seeking feedback through parent and student forums, leveraging the successes that came from remote learning and DET advice on best practice. As a result, we have made some significant changes to the way in which we assess and report students learning at Brentwood which have been shared recently via the following two video presentations below. We encourage you if you are yet to view them, to familiarise yourself with these changes in order to better understand how these changes will allow you to work in partnership with the school to support your child to progress their learning. The presentations can be found here.
