Term 2 - That's a Wrap!

It has been a busy and fast paced Term which has ended with the excitement of a three-week break to rest, travel and re-energise for Semester 2.

A reminder that Semester 1 reports will be available online via SEQTA from Friday 22 June. Parents can access this through SEQTA Engage, the parent portal section of SEQTA. I encourage all parents to log on to SEQTA to access your son’s report. If you are unable to log on, please contact the IT Help Desk on 9219 1161. Each family was also emailed a reflection sheet regarding the report. This gives both parents and students a chance to sit and reflect on the results they have achieved and most importantly set some positive goals towards where they want to move next in their learning journey.

This week we had over 30 students compete in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival. I would like to congratulate all students involved for their hard work both on race day as well as the training they put in leading up to the big event. A huge thank you to Mr Luke Thompson for coordinating and inspiring the team to achieve their best.

Having spoken to many students this week I know there are a lot of exciting travels planned for the break, as well as time for students to switch off and relax. I wish all students and their families a safe and enjoyable holiday and look forward to hearing about all the adventures when we return.

A reminder Monday, 17 July is a Pupil Free Day for all students as staff engage in vital professional learning for the day. I look forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, 18 July.

God bless,

Mrs Holly Allen

Acting Head of Junior School

Junior School TOBA Assembly

Today we had the Junior School Assembly where students were acknowledged for all their hard work and contributions throughout Term 2. Special acknowledgement went to Kenneth Wu who was presented by Trinity-Terrace Old Boys’ Association President Dion Smith ('87), a President's Award for 'display of the famous TC Spirit'.

The audience was also treated as the Year 4s sang the song Pinocchio Birichino that they have been learning all Term with Signora Knapman. While learning this song, they learnt parts of the head and face and how to use adjectives in Italian. Songs are a powerful tool in language learning and so much fun!

West Coast Eagles Visit Year 6 Blue

On Tuesday, boys in 6 Blue were lucky enough to be visited by 3 West Coast Eagles players, Rhett Bazzo, Noah Long and Campbell Chesser.

In Term 2, the boys in 6 Blue have been lucky enough to have Miss Kameron Bazzo as their prac teacher. She organised the visit as part of her behaviour management system for the Term. Over the Term, the boys have been receiving money for good deeds and working well. This money was then saved over the Term so the boys could get autographs from the Eagles players.

The boys interviewed the players in the classroom before going out onto the oval for a kick-to-kick. They asked some great questions about the current state of the West Coast Eagles and what it takes to be a professional footballer. The boys were treated to a kick-to-kick with the Eagles players and got to sharpen their kicking skills.

Many thanks to Rhett, Campbell and Noah for visiting and Miss Bazzo for organising. A special mention to Miss Bazzo for being a valuable part of the 6 Blue classrooms this Term. She has done a fantastic job teaching our boys this Term and will be sorely missed by all the boys.

Year 4 Catapult Launch!

The Year 4 students have been working very hard on designing and building their catapults with fantastic results! Thank you for supporting your son with this work.

Buddy Program

By Cristiano Magistro 5B

On Tuesday, Arthur and I and our Year 9 buddy brought something special to class. Mine was my first soccer trophy, Arthur’s was a hinged shell, and Angus, our Year 9 buddy, brought his footy trophy. We had these cards with all these questions, and I remember one of them said, “Who inspires you most in life and why?” We all said, “Our parents because they have been there since day one.”

On Tuesday, my experience with my Year 9 buddy was fun. At the start, we quickly shared our special things and then got into the questions. My favourite question was the question about the million-dollar invention. Cristiano’s was a machine that could teleport you anywhere, mine could generate any food in the world, and Angus’s was a time machine. The items we all brought in were a footy trophy (Angus), a soccer trophy (Cristiano) and a rainbow-hinged shell (me).
