We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school stands,
the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
Dear Families and Friends,
Congratulations to our Year 4 students who have now received their First Eucharist. A huge thank you to Fr Andrew, our Parish Priest, Mrs Snell, our Religious Education Leader and Year 4 staff members, parishioners and families. Please keep all students in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey.
Thanks to those who were able to attend our Working Bee on Saturday. We had a small crew but, as a result of hard work, achieved some great things for our school community. I really appreciate the support from those who are able to attend our working bees - they make a big difference in not only making our school safer and remain well presented, but helps build community.
The NCCD is an annual collection of information about Australian school students with disability. The NCCD enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can be best supported at school. The definition of ‘students with disability’ applies broadly to any student who has received adjustments over 10 weeks within a 12-month period.
Information pertaining to the NCCD can be found in today’s Newsletter under the Learning Diversity page.
As parents and family members, you are critical partners in helping support your child’s learning and growth. John Hattie (2009) suggests that many students operate in two worlds and that negotiating the gap between these two worlds can detract from learning, so it is vital that school staff and families share, understand, and effectively communicate a common language around learning. (MACS, 2021). At St. Justin's, our staff strive to implement current teaching practices to ensure the best education for our students. For strategies you can implement at home, please refer to our 'How to help your child succeed in school' page of our newsletter.
Tuesday 13th June, 2023
Our next Professional Learning Day for this term is on Tuesday 13th June, 2023
(the day after the King's Birthday long weekend) with a focus on preparing for our School Review.
The School Review takes place every four years for all Catholic Schools and has two dimensions:
Please note that these days are not taken lightly - they are essential for us, in supporting our students at St Justin's.
Can you find Mr T? He's hiding somewhere in the newsletter.
Have a great long weekend and we'll see you all on Wednesday.
All the best,
Pat
