Sport

Last Friday we had our Winter Round Robin. Students from grade 5 and 6 competed in a variety of sports against schools in our local area. The sports included Tball, Netball, Soccer and Football.

OOPS students have been training hard during our 5/6 sports sessions in preparation for the round robin. Big thank you to the parents who volunteered to help during our Friday sport sessions and as well on the round robin day.  Thanks also to the teachers who coached.

We had some great results and more importantly, our students had a lot of fun. Go OOPS!

2023 Athletics Carnival

Year 3-6 students

Tuesday 18th July

Bill Sewart Athletics Track

330 Burwood Highway, Burwood East

Moving to District Athletics

After the Old Orchard athletics carnival all results will be combined.  Students who have the top results will go through to represent Old Orchard in District Athletics on 1st September.  This means in order to progress your child will need to finish in the top two overall for their age group and gender, not just in their event group.  At District students are only allowed to compete in two events plus the relay.  If your child gets through in more than two events they will need to decide on which events to compete in.

Note:

*For all events except the 100m in the U9 and U10 age group it is combined at District level.

*The top two competitors in each age group and gender progress to District in the track events, but only the top competitior will progress for the field evenets.  The only exception to this is the 100m where the first eight competitiors will make up the two 4 x 100m relay teams.

Parent/Carer Helpers Needed

We require lots and lots of parent helpers on Athletics Day to ensure the day runs smoothly.  If you are planning on coming for the day and don't mind helping out please email Sheree at the office.  sheree.knight@education.vic.gov.au.

We greatly appreciate any help you can provide to enable this event to happen.
