Edwina Ricci

Edwina has lived and worked in Maroondah for 56 years and is passionate about building capabilities, enhancing connections and creating the conditions to enable and empower people to be the best versions of themselves individually and collectively. Whether in her own family, classrooms, sporting teams, workplaces or the community more broadly, Edwina uses the science of Positive Psychology to inform her thinking, language and behaviour. She believes that communities can be transformed when individuals and teams take agency over their wellbeing and performance through more autonomy, greater connection and by setting and achieving meaningful goals.

Session Abstract
The Flourishing Classroom is changing the true north of focus from the measurement of academic outcomes to the process of building of capabilities, connections and conditions that allow for more student ownership and agency over their learning, opportunities to collaborate with their peers on a shared learning journey and experiences of learning success that are meaningful and relevant to their futures.

- Understand the links between a flourishing classroom and higher levels of intrinsic motivation for learners
- How higher levels of engagement in the learning process help address the equity issue for all students as they navigate themselves and source what they need from their educational experience
- How the development of the social, emotional and psychological resilience results in more care for others and being better prepared for a rapidly changing future world
