Senior Girls Regional AFL

On a sunny morning, the senior girl's football team arrived at CT Barling Reserve to play three games. Unfortunately, Northcote went scoreless in the first game against Melbourne Girls College. MGC scoring 5 goals. Indi, Phoebe and Willow were outstanding as year 10s supporting us. Additionally for Northcote Mia and Tina were both dominant. The girls came into the next game pumped. Coming up against Whittlesea, it was a tight contest. Northcote ending up winning by a goal. To assist the girls win, Minke and Polly put in some outstanding efforts down forward, Minke scoring a great goal. The girls played Mt. Ridley in their final game and fell just short, losing by 5 points. The girls did a fantastic job during the entire day, and they should be really proud of their efforts. Thank you to Miss Gogerly for coaching and Pauline for supporting us throughout the day!

Cross Country : Regional and State

On June 14 we had a team of 35 students travel to Kilmore Racing Club to compete in the Regional Cross Country.  The conditions were tough with a heavy, muddy track and a chilling head wind on the home straight.  Despite this, many of our students came home with medals for the both individual and team success.

Results from the Regional Cross Country meant  we had 13 students who qualified to compete in the State competition, which was held at Yarra Glen Racing Club on 13 July.  The weather was a little kinder to our runners but the track was still heavy and muddy in parts, which of course is true cross country conditions. All of our team had a good day with our 16 year Girls team,Olive Nicholson, Grace Whitty and Mads Doughty, coming in second, and our 14 Yr Boys team came in 4th.  All of our runners should be proud for making it through to the Regional and  State Competitions.

Year 7 AFL

The Year 7 Boys football team made the journey to CT Barling Reserve on a student free day late in term 2 to decide the division championship. It was one full length match against the up and coming Preston football team. The boys started off a bit shaky, feeling their team mates out and learning to play as a team. This resulted in a few mistakes and a deficit of 25 points at the half. They boys took control of the huddle and exchanged some honest words on what the needed to do to get back in the game. They responded phenomenally keeping Preston scoreless in the third quarter and piling on 5 goals to give themselves the lead heading into the 4th. The final quarter was a battle of will as Northcote fended of multiple Preston attacks to walk away victors by 5 points.

Year 7 Girls Netball

Well done to our Yr 7 Girls netball team who competed in the Division Competition in the last week of Term 2.  Both teams played some competitive matches but were with our A team losing in the Granfinal in a close match against Preston. Thank you to Sasha Rofe for coaching both of our Yr 7 Girls Teams.

Year 7 Girls Soccer

The year 7 girls of Northcote High participated in the division soccer competition and played 3 games. They all played exceptionally well as a team and did not concede one goal the whole day. They comfortably won their first game 3-0 as the girls combined well as a team to score. They played 2 more hard fought games and drew both games 0-0. They were very unlucky not to score in both games having the majority of possession but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Player of the day went to Tepa Mulemba-Bastian who played phenomenally across all three games. Special shout out to Saskia Novella and Cleo Franceschini for putting their hands up to share goal keeper for the day. The girls did an amazing job not to concede all day.  Thank you to our Student coaches Vanessa Tabakis, Vicky Kastoral and Lolanthe Sakolevas

Year 7 Boys Soccer

Our Year 7 Boys had a great day out combining well to win all of the matches and finishing on top of their pool in their Divisional Competition.  This then progressed them through to play off in the Grand final against Preston.  The boys played some competitive soccer in the final, with Raff Groves and Henry Ashton being standouts all day long.  Preston were to strong and won the final making them over winners on the day.  A big thank you our amazing student coaches Riley Briggs and Jett Lyons.

Year 7 Badminton

Our Yr 7 Badminton teams competed in the Divisional Competition on 15 June.  We had 2 boys teams and 1 Girls Team. All teams had some great matches throughout the day. Our girls won through their pool only to lose against Preston in the final.

Year 9-10 Basketball Tournament

We had a great day at Narrandjeri Stadium when we held our Yr 9-10 Basketball Selection Tournament.  We had nearly 90 students trying out to be considered for the Intermediate Division teams who will be competing later this term.  A big thank you to our staff and our wonderful students Emmerson Clarke, Sofia Xintaropoulos and Toby Stanford  who were our refs on the day.  This tournament would not be possible without your help.

Intermediate Girls Regional AFL

On Monday week 2, the intermediate AFL girls played in the regionals tournament at CT Barling Reserve. The first game was against Kyenton where they took the lead earlier, winning 27-0. The second game was against Viewbank. At half time the scores were level with 1 goal each way, however the girls found another gear and came away, winning by 25 points. The girls went into the last game against Melbourne GC knowing that they were both undefeated and they had a tough game ahead. Again, scores were level at half time, however with some strong efforts from all the girls and in particularly, Lily, Jess and Meg, Northcote won the game by 6 points. As a result, the girls have made it into Regional finals in 2 weeks.  A special mention to Phoebe for coaching the girls and Willow for being goal umpire.
