Year 6, Year 5, and Year 4 (Rooms 11, 10, and 28)

A lot has been happening in the Art room during Semester 1.

  • Year 4 have developed their observational skills, completing pencil and oil pastel animal drawings. These pictures have been on display in our school library.
  • Year 4 enjoyed colour-mixing to complete their hand pictures, on display in the Art Room.
  • Year 6, Year 5 and Year 4/5 (Room 11) took photographs of the library mural as inspiration for their pictures. Year 6 used oil pastel and watercolour paint, whereas Year 5 and Room 11 used glue and chalk pastel. These pictures have been on display in Southlands Shopping Centre from 15th June to 29th June, receiving a lot of positive compliments from the general public and centre management.
  • Year 6, Year 5 and Year 4/5 (Room 11) chose a native Australian animal as their totem and decorated it using Aboriginal dot painting techniques and acrylic paint. Some of their pictures will be used as the backdrop for our NAIDOC assembly on the last day of this term.
  • Year 5 enjoyed making and decorating their papier-mache bowls with acrylic paint and posca pens. They decorated their bowls using symbols Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people use in their artwork to tell a story.
  • Year 6 have started their clay project, experimenting with playdough before using clay.
