WELLBEING
Tilley Tuckshop and superstar activities such as knitting, gardening, building greenhouses and planting seeds, and colouring our world without disasters are just some of the activities that have been on offer to our students over the last two weeks. Well done to our Year 6 Leaders who have helped facilitate and co-ordinate many of these activities along with Mrs Fatouros, Mr Niarros and Miss Slater for supporting our students.
The Tilley Tuckshop was a huge hit and we thank all of the Year 6 families who donated food. The SRC leaders held a vote earlier in the term and it was decided that 75% would go towards the grade 6 graduation and 25% towards UNICEF.
Our Knitting Club continues to be a popular place on Tuesdays. Students are encouraged to take home their knitting and bring it back each day.
Crochet has also proven to be popular with one of students teaching others plus Mrs Fatouros how to do it.
Colouring our World without Disasters was a Social Justice Leaders initiative. It was a hugely popular activity with standing room only in the library at one point. This activity will continue on Thursday and a winner will be announced in Week 1 of Term 3.
SRC Leaders Semester 1
This week we say goodbye to our SRC Leaders for Semester 1. Our students take this opportunity very seriously and have been wonderful this Semester in assisting with many decisions made across the St James Community including:
- Attending meetings fortnightly with an agenda, this information is then shared back with their classes
- Superstar Awards fortnightly
- House Points prize for both terms
- Facilitating voting in their classrooms e.g. shorts with the winter uniform
- Informing students in their classroom about school activities such as superstar activities
- Supporting with Project Compassion
And much more. We thank our Leaders for their service and we look forward to welcoming our new group in Term 3.
B Kinder Day
Next Thursday 22nd June is B Kinder Day. Students will be writing letters of kindness and will be bringing them home (or could even be sent in the post) to give to someone they would like to show extra kindness to. They will also be reading stories of kindness to remind them that one small act of kindness can change someone's day.

St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal
As part of our Social Justice initiatives at St James, we continue to challenge our students to SEE!, THINK!, DO! and REFLECT! on the change they can make in our world
Our Winter Appeal is in full swing with baskets in the classrooms filling up fast. We look forward to presenting these baskets to the Gardenvale Conference next Friday at our Sacred Heart Liturgy.

A very BIG thank you to all the families that attended our Reflection evening in preparation for the Year 4 students making their First Communion.
