Deputy Principals' News

During week 7 and 8 our staff and students at St James have been involved in many activities. Excursion for the junior school, “There’s a Leak" performance at Star of the Sea, Superstar Activities, Lightning Premierships for sport, Assembly, Tilley Tuckshop and Eucharist Reflection Evening. It has been a lot of fun!

On Tuesday 13th June our staff were involved in a planning day for Term 3 which involved the following:

“Come Holy Spirit” session with Sr Delilah, the Inquiry Process planning with Kate Korber, EBA agreement information and planning with our Collaborative Community. The time to plan and come together is

invaluable. We know that our students will benefit greatly from this day.

No Lunch Orders Friday 16th June

Star of the Sea has a school closure day tomorrow 16th June, therefore there will be no lunch orders available on this day.

Semester 1 Reports

On Monday 19th June our Semester 1 reports will be finalised. Please see communication from the office and below in regards to this.  This year our specialist classes will include achievement scores for the first time post-COVID. Therefore the growth for these subjects will be larger than expected.

Accessing the nForma Reports - Semester 1 Reports

We will be using the nForma Parent Portal to electronically share your child/ren’s academic report/s with you.  Prior to the reports being published on the Parent Portal, all parents will receive an email explaining how to access and set up your password. If you created a password at the end of last year, this will be reset 24 - 48 hours prior to Semester 1, 2023 reports being published.  2022 Parent Portal passwords will be reset   (Friday 15th), once reset, you will receive a Create Access email from no-reply@nforma.com.au (so please check your spam if you do not receive it).  Following the prompts on the email will guide you in creating access and setting up your login details, thus enabling access to all academic reports for your child which are currently on nForma.  Important to note, that once your child leaves St James, his/her academic reports will be archived and you will no longer have direct access via the nForma Parent portal.  Therefore nForma advises all parents/carers to download a copy of all academic reports via the portal and print them off for future reference.  The school will always have access to all archived reports.

In order for the Semester 1 Reports to be shared digitally, it is imperative that the school have your up to date contact details, in particular your email addresses.  If you have recently updated or changed your email address, can you please update your details on Operoo and inform Iris at info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au

A confirmation email will be shared on Monday, 19th June by the school to inform you when the School Reports have been published and can be viewed.

If there are any queries, please do not hesitate in contacting the school.

PT Interviews

On Thursday 22nd June parents will have the opportunity to discuss Semester 1 Reports with their child's classroom teacher.  Students will finish at 1:30pm on this day.

Winter Uniform

You may have heard the news already! But our winter uniform has two new items. The first was voted on by our students. This was facilitated by our SRC’s in each of the classrooms. Students are now allowed to wear the shorts worn in summer with the winter uniform. e.g. long sleeve shirt, tie and jumper with shorts.

Also, many of our students have purchased navy scarves from Nicholls, our uniform supplier on Martin St. We would like our community to know that these scarves will be formally added to our winter uniform item list.
