Snapshot of Learning by Grade 4

A few weeks ago, all the Grade 4 students went on an excursion to Scienceworks as part of their Inquiry unit of work. Some talented Grade 4 students have created this news report about their experiences. They hope you enjoy reading it and maybe learn a thing or two about Scienceworks.

Grade 4 Scienceworks Excursion
Our authors: Scar, Martin and Alina
On the 26th of May all the Grade 4 students went on a bus ride to Scienceworks.
What we did at Scienceworks:
When we first reached scienceworks we all filed into a big room with curved rainbow steps and waited for the teachers to hand out snacks, and we all ate heartily. After that all the Grade 4 teachers showed us the way into a big room called the Planetarium. Everybody's eyes flicked up to the ceiling where there was a big curved dome instead of a roof. Then we watched an interesting movie called tilt which was played on the big dome on top of us. Tilt was about the tilt on Earth’s axis and how that affects Australian seasons.
Next, right outside the planetarium there was an area called sportworks where we could run, jump and pull different things. Next we walked over to a section called think ahead. During think ahead activities we designed future model cars and made choices on what was better for the Earth. Then we all had a yummy lunch. Some people were bottle flipping and the news reporters were interviewing during all the commotion. After that we had lunch. After lunch the Year 4’s went to a Earth, Moon and Sun show , and a lady called Kat told us about all the movement that was happening with these 3 things.
Lastly we travelled onto the bus to school and from there went home. All in all I think everybody had tons of fun at scienceworks and the news reporters would like to acknowledge the teacher’s. It was a great idea to go to science works.
