From The Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3
Welcome back to another school term. Many of our students were happy to be back into school mode and I am sure many parents and carers were as well.
We hope you managed to read your child’s report and portfolio and could see the achievements they have made over the first two terms. Many of our students showed some terrific growth in their literacy, numeracy and social skills. It is important to note that those who made solid growth, in many cases had strong attendance at school. This term there are no public holidays, so it is important to set up a home and school routine from the start.
This term we welcome back some of our staff members who were on leave. Mrs Tess Watson who joins 4C and will take on our specialist classes on Friday for Asian Studies. We also welcome Ms Jenna Plews and Ms Melissa Ellen joining our education support team.
One of the changes we have made this term is the use of the Stadium toilets for our students in Grades 3-6. Our school has now grown to 533 students and the use of these toilets for our students takes the pressure of one set under the deck. The deck toilets will now just be toilets allocated to students in Prep - Grade 2. It has also meant staffing the toilet area near the stadium as we also have showers in the toilets that can be of interest to some students.
A few reminders for parents that are :
- Ballarat Young Author’s Program has its first workshop on Thursday 21st July. All 16 students involved in organising the program will be going to Sebastopol Library with Ms Skrobalak.
- On Wednesday 20th July we hold our Boys Breakfast at Ballarat Soccer Facility at 7.30am. Ms Richardson and Ms McCutcheon have done a wonderful job of organising the activities for the program.
- This term our transition team will be visiting our local kindergartens. This is the starting point of our transition program which continues into Term 4. If you are considering enrolling your child for next year, now is a good opportunity to get your paperwork in.
We also have a range of supervised lunchtime activities available for the students every day. Some of these are active and some of these are very passive.
