What a busy few weeks we have had in the Health & Physical Education Curriculum!
Curriculum Update
Foundation:
Over the past few weeks, the Foundation students have focused on two different concepts, movement and striking. The movement lesson focused on both acceleration and deceleration. We played both Octopus and Rob and Nest to practise these skills.
The next two lessons were all about building confidence striking objects using two-hands and one-hand. We incorporated Cricket, Hockey and tennis to practise these skills.
Year One/Two:
Over the past few weeks, the Level 1-2 students have focused on two different concepts, movement and striking. The movement lesson focused on both acceleration, deceleration and teamwork. We played both Octopus and Rob and Nest to practise these skills. Within these games the students were able to display levels of respect by adhering to the rules of each game.
The next two lessons were all about building confidence striking objects using two-hands and one-hand. We incorporated Cricket, Hockey and tennis to practise these skills. The students worked in small groups to execute the learned techniques. Once the student demonstrated a level of competency, we moved into some small team games to apply each skill.
Year Three/Four:
Over the past few weeks, the Level 3-4 students have revisited both their fitness and skill tests. The aim of these lessons was to provide the students with the opportunity to highlight growth from their results back in Term One. It was fantastic to see the level of desire and determination on display as the students aimed to beat their scores.
On conclusion of the testing lessons, we moved into building our confidence and knowledge of the skills involved in basketball. We practised a number of different passing techniques e.g. chest and bounce pass and also dribbling with both our left and right hand.
Year Five/Six:
Over the past few weeks, the Level 5-6 students have revisited both their fitness and skill tests.
Mountain Bike Elective
Our select 3-6 students wrapped up their Mountain Bike elective. It would be fair to say the students have learnt so much from each of these sessions. The skills they have learned can now be applied to their riding outside of school. A massive shout out to Simon for volunteering his time to teach the students throughout the program.
