Year 2 Art: Mook Mook Owls

Meet some of the beautiful hand painted and hand stitched Mook Mook owl soft toys created by some of Year 2 students!  The children examined artworks by one of the most prominent painters of the Warmun community in WA, Queenie McKenzie (1915-1998). In 1987 McKenzie was the first woman to begin painting in her community. Students used her Mook Mook Owlartworks as inspiration for their own owl soft toys. They illustrated their ideas onto fabric and added colour and patterns using paint and posca paint pens. They hand stitched details onto the soft toys to further develop their sewing skills.
