Jack Ratcliffe - SSA U18 National Baseball Championships

From the 8-13th of May, Jack Ratcliffe represented Victoria in the U18 Baseball SSA National Championships in Lismore, NSW. Jack made the Victorian team team after strong performances in the 2023 Australian National Championships where he also represented Victoria.

After a week of competition Jack and his Victorian teammates went 4-4-1 placing them third after the round robin stage, narrowly missing out on a spot in the top 2. In the bronze medal match against WA/ACT Jack lead the Victorian team with two hits, enough for Victoria to finish the match 8-0 and win the bronze medal.

Along with the strong performance of the team, Jack also took home an individual accolade. As the short stop and second base fielder Jack was presented with the Golden Glove Award, given to the best fielder across the whole championship. Jack also lead the batting stats with 14 hits, the second highest across all teams. In addition to the Golden Glove Award Jack was also unanimously selected as the shortstop for the All-Australian team which will be travelling to New York early in 2024 to compete in the World Championships.

Congratulations on a fantastic tournament Jack, and best of luck in New York!

Community Day 5v5 Basketball Tournament

During the Term 2 Community Day on Tuesday the 13th of June, the Sport Captains ran a 5X5 Half-Court Basketball Tournament open to all students to increase student participation in Community Day activities as well as engagement in sport.

After much preparation and planning, we had a great turnout from all year levels, far greater than we had anticipated, and were able to run multiples games for all four court (Year 7s, Year 8s, Years 9s and Years 10/11) to ensure everyone who came was able to join in. From a Sport Captain point of view it was great to see so many people coming down with their friends for a bit of fun and friendly competition or even just coming to watch and support their friends. The atmosphere at the basketball courts was one to be experienced, making for a great competitive but also supportive and inclusive environment.

A massive congratulations to all of our winners on the day and we look forward to hosting more of these events soon so stayed tuned for more announcements. We hope that you all had a lot of fun and would like to thank everyone who participated as well as everyone who helped make it possible.
