From The Classroom

Grade 5/6 Update:

The Grade 5/6s have enjoyed a smooth start to Term 3. We have begun a Novel Study on the book ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio. Out of the main character “Auggie’s’ struggles and accomplishments, themes of strength, resilience, acceptance, kindness and respect run throughout the book. So far the students are enjoying immersing themselves in the text and the themes it presents. We have had much discussion so far.

In Writing, we have been focussing on writing a Narrative. We have learnt about the structure and language features of a narrative. ‘Fox’ by Margaret Wild, has been our mentor text. It is beautifully written with rich language.

Our Maths focus is times tables as well as automatic recall of number facts. We have been completing the ‘Daily 10’ which is an online maths fluency program. This would be a great tool for extra practice at home! We are learning about Statistics and Probability as well as Time, also.
