Joining forces with Hydro

Our Year 8 Science classes have taken their learning to new heights following a high-energy, hands-on experiment involving wind turbines.

Joining forces with a representative from Hydro Tasmania, the students were challenged to design a turbine from recycled materials, which they then tested in a 'Turbinator' to determine the fastest spinning turbine.

Year 9s take time to Retreat

The Year 9 students visited Richmond last week for the Retreat component of their Enrichment Days. They explored the theme of 'journey' and learnt about the first Presentation Sisters to come to Australia who spent about a year and a half in Richmond while they waited for St Mary's College to be built.

The day's program included a visit to the old schoolhouse, in which the sisters taught, and St John's Church, where five of those sisters took their first vows.

The cohort also heard from Leanne Prichard from the Catholic Education Office who shared her journey walking the Spanish pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella. Students were able to reflect on how the lessons Leanne learnt might apply to their own lives.
