We are currently in Week 8 of a very busy Term 2. Along with the many activities happening in and around the College, the Year 11 and 12 students will be sitting their mid-year exams in the coming weeks. A Year 11/12 'Study Day' has been set aside on the academic calendar for Wednesday 21 June, with the weeklong exam period commencing on Thursday 22 June.
The Year 11/12 exams will be followed by the Year 10 exams (Thursday 29 June to Tuesday 4 July) and the UTAS Music Exams on Friday 30 June. We wish students all the very best for their upcoming exams.
I wish to remind parents and carers of the importance of checking junk email folders regularly. As communicated in last fortnight's edition of The Fountain, a number of email platforms have updated their authentication security measures, resulting in a larger volume of emails from many organisations, including St Mary’s College, landing in junk email folders. Once again, I apologise if this has caused you any inconvenience and I ask that you continue to monitor your junk folder to ensure you are not missing any emails from the College.
The Southern Tasmanian Catholic Primary Schools Sports Association Cross Country was held last Friday 9 June, and we had a great day. Thankfully the weather was kind to us and conditions were perfect for cross country.
Our team performed admirably and will now compete in tomorrow's Junior Southern SATIS (JSSATIS) Carnival. Students wishing to participate in the All Schools Carnival will travel to Symmons Plains on Tuesday 27 June.
This week the mid-year Drama production, Antigone, will be staged at the Moonah Arts Centre from 15 to 17 June. The talents of our Drama 3 and Theatre Performance students are outstanding, and I thank Leah Wallace and all staff involved in the production. I hope you can get along to sit back and enjoy the show. Tickets are available at the door.
A reminder that if you have friends or relatives interested in enrolling their children at the College, please let them know they will need to contact our Enrolment Officer, Nicole Wighton, on enrol@smc.tas.edu.au to progress an enrolment application. This is also a requirement for families who have a child already attending the College but need to enrol a sibling.
Key enrolment dates:
2024 primary enrolments – open
2024 Year 11/12 enrolments – open
2025 Year 7 enrolments – applications due by March 2024
