Sports Update 

YEAR 5 & 6 WINTER SPORT & LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIPS 

IT’S A WRAP!  Our Year 5 & 6 students have now finished their massive term of inter-school sport against other Dendy District schools.  All students are to be congratulated for their participation efforts and the way they represented St. Finbar’s over the term.  It’s been wonderful to see the gradual development in skills, team work and team spirit by so many.   

THANK YOU - All of our Winter Sport staff and students would like to thank the numerous parents that supported the weekly netball and football rounds over the term.  Without this support, the running of this program and the safety of our students would not be possible.  

Our representative AFL football team participated in the final Lightning Prem tournament to finish our big week of sport last week.  Despite no wins over the day, all students gave it their best, enjoyed the experience of a round-robin sporting tournament and developed as a team over the day.  Many thanks to all of our attending staff for supporting all of our SF teams at these events.  

Beachside Division Netball Winter PlayOffs

Our winning A Grade Mixed Netball team from last week’s LP Netball tournament will now progress to the next level of competition to play off in the Beachside Division PlayOffs.  This tournament is set for Wednesday 19th July at Oakleigh Rec.  We wish them all the very best and know they will once again represent our school well.

REQUEST: RETURN OF WINTER SPORT & LP JERSEYS/SHIRTS

Now that our Year 5/6 Winter Sport term is over, we ask that all borrowed Football jerseys & LP Soccer tops be cold washed and air-dried and returned to school to their class teacher.  Thank you for your anticipated support.

HOOPTIME - teams announced.

Congratulations goes to the students that were selected in this year's Junior and Senior HoopTime teams.  We hope all unsuccessful trialling Year 3-5 students are proud of their try-out efforts in giving it a go and will give it another go next year! 

Selected students' families will have receive an Operoo permission email on Wednesday this week outlining all requirements for the day, specific rules of HoopTime and a Good Behaviour policy that both the student and spectating parents need to abide by. 

TOURNAMENT DATES:  

Year 5&6: Friday 21st July (Wk 2) & Year 3&4: Thursday 27th July (Wk 3)

Both days are to be held at MSAC basketball stadium, Albert Park.

PARENT HELPERS REQUEST:  We will be requiring a number of parents to support their child’s team at MSAC for these HoopTime days.  Please email Tania Thompson if you are able to help coach, team manage or score a few games.  Many thanks! 

WHOLE SCHOOL WATER SAFETY & SWIMMING PROGRAM

WHEN: Term 3,  Weeks 7 & 8

Next term will see the whole school participate in a 2 week Water Safety and Swimming Program at the BlueFit Swimming Centre in Sandringham.  Operoo information with all relevant details will go out to all families by Week 4 next term.  This intensive swimming program is for every student that attends St. Finbar’s.  

Dates are: 

Wk 7: Monday 21st August - Friday 25th August (5 days)

Wk 8: Monday 28th August - Thursday 31st August (4 days)
