Sayembara Lisan
The Sayembara Lisan is an annual Indonesian Speaking Competition for students learning Indonesian as a second language. Participants write and present a script on a specific topic in Indonesian, followed by answering questions in Indonesian.
This year, Aitken College students represented us at the Year 7 Beginners level. We commend Ruben, Revaan, Darsh, Aahana, Toby, Amyra, Aaryan, Avani, Jesleen, Diva, Keana, Andi, Viraj, Srishikha, Lucas, and Nissi for their remarkable efforts and representation.
Out of these students, Darsh, Aaryan, Jesleen, Amyra, and Keana have advanced to the State Final on 22 July. We wish them the best in the final stage of the competition.
Sayembara Lisan - Student Feedback
“I am very excited about this because this is my first Indonesian competition. I am happy that I can share my skills and practice my Indonesian expressions, pronunciation, and grammar. We all worked very hard to get ready and we are all happy to have participated.” Revaan
“I feel relieved that all the hard work that have put in for this term has paid off. My Indonesian pronunciation and fluency have improved through preparing for this competition and I am happy with how it all turned out. Learning Indonesian is useful for me in the future as Indonesia is close to Australia. I am a Filipino and I am just excited to learn a new language, and I can’t wait to know more about the difference between Tagalog and Indonesian.” Keana
Indonesian Study Tour
I am excited to announce that there are plans afoot for a Study Tour to Indonesia to be held in June 2024. The tour will include visits to Bali, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta. This tour will offer a captivating blend of cultural exploration and educational experiences. The estimated length of the tour will be ten or eleven nights and it will depart on Thursday 20 June.
Students who will be in Years 9 to 12 in 2024 are encouraged to participate, although places will be limited. Therefore, students who are planning to continue Indonesian into VCE will be given priority.
If you would further information about the tour and would like your child to participate, please contact me by email (srogers@aitkencollege.edu.au) Your name will then be included on the emailing list to receive updates about itinerary, tour costs and other relevant details.
This study tour will offer your child an unforgettable and transformative experience, fostering cultural understanding, language skills, and personal growth.
