LIBRARY NEWS

It’s VERY exciting with the building works commenced and the start of a new library for COHR!

But it’s even more exciting because Term 3 @ COHR is Book Week! The Book Week theme for 2019 is “ READING IS MY SECRET POWER!”. On Wednesday 21st August we will hold our annual Book Week Parade at 9am where we ask all students to come to school dressed as a book character. This book character can be from a book in our school library, your home library or local library. It doesn’t have to be a full costume but maybe a prop to highlight the character.  Some of our senior students are already organised as a group of characters from a well loved book! Please pop into the library if you need some ideas for characters or costumes. We invite parents, family friends and younger siblings to participate in our parade as well. Looking forward to seeing you in costume in the hall on Wednesday 21st August at 9am.

Library lessons have begun this term looking at the  short-listed books in the Early Childhood and Picture Book categories and casting our vote as to what book we think might win. Students have also enjoyed imagining themselves as a ‘superhero’ and sharing what some of their secret powers would be as a reader. Over this term, all classes will have the short-listed books read to them and complete various book responses either in Library or classroom lessons. On our Book Week Parade day, students will complete activities with buddy grades.

PRC - Premier’s Reading Challenge

We have over 50 students that have completed the challenge so far. There is still 6 weeks to go and many students are on target to complete. Prep - 2 need to read 30 books and 3 - 5 need to read 15 books. Maybe now is a good time to log in again and add books that have been read over the holidays or even last term. Here are the log in details again:

You can log into PRC and add your books read and we’ll verify  them.
