Bringing Books To Life
Students in Stage 4 English are currently undertaking a novel study of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” by J.K. Rowling. They participated in a 'sorting ceremony' that saw students sorted into one of four Hogwarts houses as well as being treated to a start of term feast filled with magical delicacies.
English teacher, Ms McCluskey explained 'This activity links to student learning outcomes through encouraging creative and imaginative thinking, reading texts for enjoyment and identifying cultural appreciation in texts.'

Wee Waa Joins The Archibull Prize Challenge
Established in 2010, the Archibull Prize is an innovative and fun program that sees participating secondary schools given a life size fibreglass cow to decorate with artwork that tells the story of the particular agriculture theme. Students must also complete a research project on the same theme.
Our school was allocated the theme ‘The Grains Industry - feeding, clothing and powering a hungry nation is a shared responsibility’.
The nationwide program is designed to engage secondary school students in agricultural and environmental awareness through art, design, creativity and teamwork.
It’s the first year that Wee Waa High has participated and this week our team of Archibull students started working on the artwork design. The cow has now been undercoated and is ready to receive her artwork adornment which will be done as the students simultaneously complete their research project.
Another aspect of the competition program is that each school is allocated a young farming champion ambassador. Ours will be coming to visit our Stage 5 Agriculture class this week.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. To read more about the program http://archibullprize.com.au/about/index.html
