Student Wellbeing

As we approach the end of Semester 1, just a few reminders and some material that may help all of us

Uniform Reminders

With the end of semester approaching it is an important time to remind our families that if your daughter requires any item of the uniform to purchase them over the holidays..

Items such as a school tie are a compulsory item to be worn each day with our winter uniform – either with school pants or winter skirt.

Can I also remind all of our students that black Kathmandu jackets are not part of our uniform. The school blaze is to be worn with our uniform as the most outer garment.

We also have a group of students who continue to wear their PE Uniform in place of the school uniform even though they are not studying Health or PE . At the beginning of Term 3, students who continue to do this will be sent home to change into the correct uniform.

We do thank all of our students who continue to do the right thing and wear their uniform with pride.

Child Safety Committee – Parent Involvement

In previous editions of the Marian News, I have called for any parents who would be willing to join our Child Safety Sub Committee to offer a parent perspective when we carry out Safety assessments of the school property etc.

Our Student Representative Council have a sub-committee with the focus on Child Safety. They have assisted in developing a Child Friendly version of our Child Safety Policy and they have also completed a safety audit of the school property. Their work will be ongoing and a parent perspective is very important to this work. If you are interested in joining, please contact me on the school number.

Vaping

Please find attached in this edition of the Marian a copy of a handout distributed from the Catholic Education Office from the State Education Department.

It gives some insight into the dangers associated with the process of vaping and the way it is evident in all schools. We remind all of our families that students who are caught vaping at school, selling items to carry out the process of vaping or distributing the items to do so will be suspended in the same way we approach normal cigarette smoking.

We are in the process of updating our signs in our school toilets as we continue to make all of our students aware of this response.

At the end of the term we will send out the same handout and message via OPEROO to all of our families.
