Drama

Year 9

Year 9 Drama are in the midst of rehearsing for their production of Australian play Little Girls Alone in the Woods. They started the term focusing on Elements of Production with a focus on creating a directorial vision, and a set design, promotional design or costume design for the play. An excursion to watch the Canberra Youth Theatre production of the play provided both inspiration and motivation as we now take the play from the page to the stage in creating our own production for public performance.

Year 10

Year 10 students have been busy learning about theatre criticism and were able to reflect on professional productions seen in Sydney last term, and the Shake and Stir production of Animal Farm performed at the Civic Theatre. They are now embarking on playbuilding and physical theatre work to develop their performance skills further next term.

The HSC class has been focusing on developing their group performances and refining their individual projects. With trial exams fast approaching, they are also revising their Studies in Drama topics in preparation for the written exam. Workshopping times will be offered during the school holidays for students to finalise their performance work.

After school Drama Ensemble students have continued to develop their skills in improvisation and play building. They will conclude the term by participating, with the Year 9 Drama class, in a Bell Shakespeare workshop for their production of Midsummer Nights Dream.
