Aerobics
State championships - 10 July
After being postponed due to a lockdown it was finally time for the MGSC Aerobics Squad to compete in the Victorian State Championships.
The squad had been training hard for the past two months in preparation, including training outside in the cold and even at parks during the school holidays. The nerves and excitement were high amongst the group the days and even weeks leading up to the competition. We had one of our biggest squads ever competing at the state competition and from this amazing achievements were made with seven teams and all soloists qualifying for Nationals.
In the Secondary Aerobics section, The Noughties came first! They will be going through to the National Championships.
Tara Ash (year 9), competed in the Blue singles section and came first. She will also be competing in the National championships.
In the Audition section, which was completed online prior to the day, we achieved a trifecta with Hannah Walker (year 12) coming first, India Jones (year 12) second and Kasey Cutler (year 12) third. All three competitors will be competing in the National championships!
Grace Ash (year 7), came second in the Orange singles section and will be going through to the Nationals.
Alex Turner (year 9), competed in the Stage 3 Singles section. She achieved third in her section and will be competing in the National championships.
In Stage 1, we have two teams going through to the Nationals. The Super Troopers who came fourth and Eve’s Angels who came eighth. The Sapphires who also gave an amazing performance, will now start training for the Spring Challenge Competition later this year.
For Stage 2, both teams have qualified for the national championships. The year 12 team Salt n Pepa achieved third. Joining them will be Dynamite who achieved sixth.
In Stage 3 aerobics, The MJ’s came first and will also be competing at Nationals.
In the Old Skool Aerobics section, even after some technical difficulties on the day, Redemption achieved fourth and will be joining the other athletes at the National championships.
We are so proud of all the competitors and coaches for their hard work and determination. Congratulations to Rikki Andison, Kirsten Pitts and Natalie Desylva (our Senior Coaches) and all of the year 12 student coaches. A massive thankyou to our Head Coach and program coordinator Ms Tess Molina, for all the time and effort that goes into the program, it has definitely paid off. We are all excited for the National Championships planned for the Gold Coast in August.
