RESILIENCE ROCKS!

Resilience is the ability to cope when things don’t go as planned; being able to ‘Bounce Back’ after difficult times or situations. Over the last year and half, our students have certainly shown resilience, coping with lockdown and remote learning, and all the other changes Covid 19 has brought to their lives.

On Friday 18th June, our school celebrated the resilience of our students with ‘Resilience Rocks’, a whole school wellbeing day. Students scampered into school in rainbow colours ready to participate in a day of fun, laughter and learning.

The Grade 6’s started their day with a workshop by Project Rockit, uniting students to build inclusive school communities, through empathy and friendship. The Grade 5’s experienced a yoga class with Tina from Yogamigos and the Grade 4’s pedalled the Bike’n’Blend bikes to make themselves a smoothie. The Grade 3’s made glitter jars to use in their mindfulness activities (A big thank you to all those families who donated jars and bottles to use in this activity!) The Grade 2’s made pinwheels and learnt how to use them when calming their breathing. Grade 1’s read all about Silly Billy and made worry dolls to help them with their worries. And the Prep’s learnt about belly breathing by making special bubble mixture and bubble blowing wands!

Students participated in numerous other activities throughout the day, covering topics such as healthy eating, teambuilding, staying active, feelings, friendship, gratitude, kindness, trust and coping skills.

A big thank you goes out to all the teachers who made the day a fantastic event, enjoyed by all!

We hope all Lyndhurst families have a lovely, restful break and we look forward to seeing you all after the holiday!

Best wishes from the Wellbeing Team.
