Student Wellbeing

With Lockdown 5.0 complete and life moving forward it’s important to continue to look after ourselves and those around us. I have a saying I say to myself and that’s ‘Kindness is always in fashion...to self and others!' Amidst the range of emotions you are feeling, provide space for them, welcome them. And know that they shift and change just like the ocean. The ocean and waves, just like emotions, can be calm, choppy, big, exciting, scary etc .. we know waves come and go - just like our emotions, and sometimes we need to ride that big wave to get to calmer waters!

Gratitude helps us to notice, feel, have thoughts, and behave in ways that promote positive mental health. Gratitude doesn’t mean you can’t feel what you are feeling – it encourages us to also see and feel and share the good stuff and to have hope.

Did you know that when we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our

emotions, and they make us feel good, and enhance our mood immediately  - https://positivepsychology.com/neuroscience-of-gratitude

How awesome is that! Here are some gratitude prompts for you to elicit that feel good feeling...

  • What’s the best thing that happened to me today?
  • A strength is a positive skill or quality you have. What strengths do I have as a person? Make a list.
  • Do something kind for a friend, family member. How does this make me feel?
  • What are THREE things that went well for me today?
  • Who am I most grateful for today and why?
  • What am I looking forward to most about tomorrow?
  • What do I love doing most aside from study/work?
