Extended Mentor Program

The Extended Mentor Program (EMP) provides mentors with the time to undertake educational activities with their mentor group. This is held within the longer Wednesday mentor sessions that run for thirty minutes. These activities address social, emotional and learning needs relevant to the students’ age group. This term, students at all year levels will be focusing on the topic of Respectful Relationships. Not only is not topic taught in junior health classes, but also across the school during EMP time. Students will use the DET Respectful Relationships resource, in line with whole year level activities with both the school nurse and our local nurse Bron from CHIRP. As we are now a Lead school in Respectful Relationships, we are excited to continue this important work this term. Should you have any questions in regards to any of these topics, please speak to Shanee Peters, wellbeing leading teacher.

Sistars Year 8 Program

Sistars program was a year 8 funded by School Focussed Youth Services (SFYS).

It ran during term 2 on a Tuesday afternoon with an art focus and the program was facilitated by Melanie Mitchell of the Wellbeing team with community artists joining the group to share their expert skills with students.

The focus of the activities was both individual and teamwork. There was jewellery making, copper shim work and mosaicing. The mosaic works are to be displayed in the upcoming Wellbeing Garden which will be built later in 2021 outside the Wellbeing area of the school.

Students developed friendships and personal attributes through the medium of art. There will be two final days of the program later in term 3 (Covid permitting) which will see students make connections with their local community with a bushwalk/craft activity with Murnong Mummas and a personal challenge activity at the local gym/pool.
