Good afternoon families,

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you were all able to get some time away from home, if this was part of your holiday plan.

On Monday's school closure day, the first session was Religious Education, and the staff looked at  'Exploring a pedagogy of encounter- Is our society just and fair?'

The second session was on the Intervention Framework Module and how we differentiate the curriculum for the students in each class.

The last session of the day was a team building challenge. It was great to work together in fun challenges and finish with a bike building challenge. We managed to build 10 bikes.

To complete the day, a charity called Break Away Youth came to the hall with 4 young teenagers who are supported by Break Away Youth and we presented the charity with the 10 bikes to use at their 'clubhouse' or on their camp property or to give to children who needed a bike to get them out and about.

It was a very rewarding day for all staff.

Assembly for Monday 19 July has been cancelled and will be rescheduled later in the term.

 Working Bee

Saturday 31 July 8am -12pm. All families are invited to attend and you need only stay for as long as you can. Last term's working bee was well attended and we were able to complete many jobs around the school.

It would once again be greatly appreciated if families could once again attend and help to get through the maintenance of our huge school.

Policies

On the school website many of the school's policies have been update. You will find these policies under the tab- For families. Please take the time to look at the policies that are listed and use them as a reference point when needed.

School Closure

Friday 13 August will be a school closure day. The staff will be participating in a professional learning day on maths. The day will be   facilitated by Rob Vingerhoest. Please mark this day in your calendar.

 School Advisory Council

The St Louis Education Board has been dissolved as per instructions from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools( MACS). The members on the Education Board have been invited to join the newly formed St Louis School Advisory Council. The Council had an introductory meeting last term and Mr Rob Aron from MACS facilitated the meeting. Rob explained what the Advisory Council's role in the school would be. I will be sending out an Operoo calling for nominations for more School Advisory Council members. The Operoo will have 3 attachments and a nomination form. The 3 attachments will give you more information about the role of the Council.

Hopefully we will be back at school next Wednesday.

You will find all the information you need about remote and flexible learning for this lockdown in this newsletter under Learning and Teaching.

Please stay home, stay well and be kind to each other.

Regards

Carmel Stutterd
