Year 10

Last week the Year 10s had a range of guest speakers present at the school. The focus of these presentations were around safe partying, consent and overcoming challenges.  It was great to see the students engaging with the speakers and reflecting on their behaviours.

The students were fortunate to have Josh Hose, a Wheelchair Rugby superstar Paralympian, present from Spin Chat. He spoke to the students about the experiences and challenges he faced when he became a quadriplegic in a car accident. Through his story he showed students that even though life throws a curveball, you can overcome it. This was an powerful lesson to students with many asking questions throughout the presentation and with a good number of students grabbing a cheeky selfie with the star.

'I want my audience to take away the message that life presents many challenges, and if you are resilient, focused and persistent, you can overcome anything.'

We hope these presentations leave students with food for thought as they finish off the term. We know that the lessons learned through these presentations will help the Year 10s to continue making the right choices.
