Our swimming carnival was held yesterday. Congratulations to Gwai for being the winning faction and to all of the medal winners. More details of the results are available further in our newsletter.

Swimming Carnival

Our swimming carnival was a wonderful event with all students trying their best.  Thank you to so many parents/carers who attended to cheer on their child/ren.  We were keen to be able to hold this event as the 2022 swimming carnival had to be cancelled due to Covid restrictions. Congratulations to Mr Crouch for all of his organisation at our swimming trails and at our carnival to ensure our 76 swimmers were all able to safely take part at our swimming carnival. Mr Crouch was ably assisted by both staff and our parent volunteers.  A big thank you to one of our School Board parent representatives, Mr Gavin Turner, for ensuring there were plenty of adult volunteers to be our judges on the day.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN commences next week from Wednesday 15th March for Year 3 and 5 students.  If you are yet to do so, parents/carers can find the schedule for your child’s class for these year levels in Connect. Last year, despite Covid, we had 100% of students sit this test.  We are keen to have all students involved in NAPLAN attend school to reach 100% completion once again.

Trees at Burrendah

The Department of Education have organised for a company to attend Burrendah to follow the recommendations of the arborist reports. They will begin this work on Tuesday 14th March so we can reopen the junior playground.    If the red or yellow gates are locked during the day for some of this work to occur, please enter the school through the Kindergarten gate or Castlereagh Close. Before school tennis will be held in the undercover area on the 14th March.

The remaining work will be completed from Week 9, Monday 27th March, following NAPLAN.

Harmony Day

On Friday 24th March we will be celebrating Harmony Day with a Community Assembly followed in the evening by a family welcome event at school. A great deal of organisation has already occurred by parents, members of the community and the EAL/D team. Information about this event is being sent home this week. See more about our Harmony Day events further in our newsletter.

P & C Colour Explosion Wednesday 5th April

Mrs Bree Sherston, P & C Colour Explosion coordinator spoke to the students today at the Faction Assembly regarding wonderful prizes students can win for being one of the top six fundraiser for this event.  Flyers have been sent out this week containing important information. Parent/carers will need to help their child to register online.
