Stage 2 News

Wow!  We have already reached the part of the term where we are closer to another set of holidays.  We have settled into our routines, and our beautiful Year 3’s and 4’s have been demonstrating resilience, persistence and confidence, woohoo!!

To continue our English unit about Australian bush poetry, Stage 2 is about to embark on the next exciting part of the unit - writing our own bush-style poems!  We will use what we have learnt about the narrative structure of bush poems, literary devices and language features to try our hand at becoming Australian bush poets.  Wish us luck!

In our Geography unit - Features of Australia, we have investigated 3 different towns in Australia - Armidale, Port Macquarie and Yulara.  We have looked at the different features of these places and compared things such as population, local flora and fauna, and things to do there.  We have also been researching the climate of these places, and comparing them.  We are going to be creating informative posters about these places after completing our research.

Stage 2 had a fabulous time out at Thalgarrah! We completed the program TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More), which saw us working together to solve problems. We put our orienteering skills to the test, heading out into the bush to collect flags.  We faced our fears and worked on our problem-solving skills and resilience.  (This was true for Miss Landow and Miss Newman too!) We then got to gather our own wood for a fire on which we cooked our own sausages for lunch!  What an amazing experience!  As always a huge thanks to Matt McKenzie at Thalgarrah for having us.

We would like to give a special shout-out to our amazing Year 3’s who are tackling NAPLAN this week with confidence and persistence.  You are all amazing and we are so proud of you!

I would also like to say thank you, good bye and good luck to the beautiful Miss Newman as she embarks on the next adventure in her life.  It has been a pleasure to work with you and we will all miss you terribly.

Have a wonderful end of the term MGPS!

Rhianna Landow and Holly Newman

TEACHERS SHINING

This year our staff are celebrating the successes of our teachers each week.  In our staff room we have a "SHINE box" where teachers and other staff acknowledge each other and the contributions we are making at our amazing school.  Below are the names that were drawn out from the box last week.
