Twilight Sports BBQ

A huge thanks to our expert sausage-slinging crew for making the Twilight Sports BBQ such a success: Gary Thurgood, Jacqui  Thurgood, Pete Shelley, Tamie Jones, Cody Moore, Lee Cath, George Kotridis, Andrew Hudson, Wes Pryor, Dan Wright, Ange Perkin, Luella Charles, Gary Shaw, Jane Martin, Amnah Rabi and Becs Ostberg.

We raised almost $1000 for the school, which is a great start to our fundraising year!

Prep Families Welcome BBQ

On the BBQ theme, the PnC are excited to be hosting the annual Prep Families Welcome BBQ.

This is a free outdoors event for all Prep 2023 students and their families (including siblings), to welcome them to the Merri-bek Primary School community.

This event will be held on Tuesday 21 March 2023, 3.45-5pm, in the school grounds. Entry via Blair St gate.

Please RSVP here: https://forms.gle/g3u6FZbmEkSicFa39

Note: Vegetarian and halal BBQ options will be provided, but feel free to bring your own picnic dinner and refreshments. This will be a non-alcohol event. Children must be supervised by a parent/carer at all times.

If you have any questions about this event, or would like to volunteer your time to assist, please contact the Parents and Carers committee at morelandps.pnc@gmail.com

Who Gives a Crap bulk buy and discount

Merri-bek Primary School invites families to get a discount on ethical, environmentally toilet paper and tissues via our Who Gives a Crap co-op. Bonus: the school gets a % of funds from every order. Win-win!

Keep an eye on the WhatsApp groups and Facebook Group in the next week for the link to place your order.

Minutes from our PnC planning meeting

Our first meeting of the year was held in February and it was great to see some new faces in the room, representing almost every year level. You can read the minutes of this meeting via Compass.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 14 March, 7-8pm in the school staff room. At this meeting will be welcoming new our 2023 officebearers and planning events for the remainder of this term, and Term 2.

Everyone is welcome at a PnC meeting, especially if you have ideas or thoughts about how we can fundraise for our school.

Communication about PnC events

The PnC promotes its events via the WhatsApp and Facebook groups, posters around the school, in the newsletter, and via Compass. Not all school events are run by the PnC and all communication for PnC events is done by parent volunteers.

WhatsApp and Facebook groups

The PnC facilitates WhatsApp groups for grade levels, and a Facebook Group for the whole school community, to help connect our community online. There is also a private Facebook Group for parents and carers of neurodiverse students.

These groups are run by parents and not affiliated or overseen by the school or its leadership. You can view the terms of these groups here: https://tinyurl.com/4699e963

If you would like to join the Facebook Group or your child’s year level WhatsApp group, please SMS Tess on 0419280282.

As always, we recognise that not all parents and carers have the capacity to volunteer or donate to our fundraising efforts. We welcome all efforts, not matter how small. If you are interested in helping our school in a way that suits you, or you have a fundraising or social event idea, you can email us any time at morelandps.pnc@gmail.com
