Principals Message

Interviews

Well done to all of those parents who have booked and attended interviews so far, these are very important in regards to maximising success for your children.

Within our interviews teachers are sharing your children's learning goals through our assessment rubrics and discussing how their learning can be further supported at home. If you have been unsuccessful in making a booking, please make sure that you contact your teacher via Seesaw to book a time.

NAPLAN

This week we begin our NAPLAN testing period, our students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt. This is an important process, but it is not something students need to be worried about . Here are some tips on how to approach this with your child:

  1. Relieve pressure by letting them know that it is just one test, and all they can do is try their best. But it is important to answer every question to the best of their ability.
  2. Get onto Mathsonline via our school links, this program was chosen because of the similar structures to the NAPLAN test questions. You can spend some time with your children making sure they read questions carefully and double check their work after they have completed all questions.
  3. Get a good night sleep the night before, you can view the schedule within the NAPLAN section of this newsletter.

PSSA Cricket Knockout

Last Tuesday our school cricket team played their first round of the PSSA Knockout against Toormina Public School.

Lachlan won the toss and elected to bat with Jude and Lincoln opening the batting. Our openers put on a 50 run partnership and laid the foundation for a great innings. Lachlan came in as first drop and let loose hitting 5 fours and top scoring with 30 runs. With most of our team playing their first game of cricket ever they continued to bat well and run brilliantly between the wickets. Everyone contributed to the score and the team went on to make 185 runs in their 25 overs.

Defending a large total, and with temperatures soaring well into the thirties our boys bowled and fielded well. Learning to back up and get their bowling actions lined up. Ryan and Lucas each got 2 wickets and we bowled Toormina our for 50 runs. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and learnt a lot about cricket in the process.  Toormina Public School are to be commended on their effort and attitude.
