2024 Prep

Meet our wonderful teachers...

Prep A: Olivia Martin (Team Leader)

Hello SMPS students and families! My name is Miss Olivia and I will be teaching Prep A in 2024. This will be my seventh year in teaching and my first year at SMPS.

I have spent most of my life in Melbourne but spent the first six years of my schooling in America. This past year I have been living and teaching in London, which has been an amazing experience! Living in the UK has meant my love of travel has grown even more. I have been lucky to be able to travel around Europe in school holidays.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family and friends. When it’s sunny, I’m out going for walks to get a coffee and curling up on the couch with a good book when it’s cold.

I am incredibly excited to begin my journey at SMPS and look forward to meeting you all!

Prep B: James Lucas

Hello South Melbourne Primary School families! My name is Mr James. I will continue as a Prep teacher at sensational SMPS in 2024 and I am excited to see all of you for a wonderful year of learning and fun!

I have lived in Melbourne my entire life and couldn’t think of a better place to call home. When I’m not teaching, I love to spend my time outdoors playing sport or just enjoying the sunshine with friends. I enjoy reading all sorts of books and love to share my passion for literature with my students. I especially love to put on silly voices while reading aloud so get ready for some fun story times!

I can’t wait to meet all the new superstars soon as well as seeing my Preps from last year starting their Year 1 journey. Let’s all work together to make it the best year ever!

Prep C: Ben Corns

Hello, South Melbourne Primary School Community! My name is Mr Ben. I am a Grade Prep Teacher for 2024 and I am excited to see all of you for a wonderful year of learning and fun!

I have spent most of my life in Marvellous Melbourne and I feel incredibly lucky to call it home. Outside of the classroom, I like to act like a monkey with my nieces and nephews, sing and dance with my friends and head to the beach to make giant sandcastles! I really enjoy seeing live performances such as musicians, actors or even scientists that talk about outer space!

I look forward to meeting lots of new faces and catching up with familiar ones in 2024. Let’s make it the best year ever at South Melbourne Primary School.

Prep D: Charlee Gough

My name is Charlee, and I am so excited to be joining the Prep teaching team at South Melbourne in 2024. This year I have been very fortunate to be a part of SMPS as a Grade 1 teacher and have loved working with the students and celebrating their growth.

A little bit about me, I grew up on the Bass Coast and attended school on Phillip Island, (although sadly, I am not a proficient surfer). Growing up I loved dancing, musical theatre and was a competitive swimmer. I have completed my tertiary studies at Swinburne University of Technology attaining a Bachelor of Education (Primary). I am a very proud mum to my cavoodle puppy Alfie.

I am looking forward to beginning my Prep teaching journey as a part of such a wonderful, welcoming, and vibrant school community and building strong relationships with my students and their families.
