From the Deputy Principal

One of the many aspects of our school that stands out as particularly impressive is our Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular opportunities for our students. Just this morning myself, our Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh and many of the competitors and spectators of the Southern 80 had the honour of hearing our very professional and entertaining Drumline led by Kevin Keily. Toby, Caitlin, Rebecca, Zena, Josephine and Ella did not only themselves but also our school proud in the way they performed this morning.

On what might be regarded as the other end of the spectrum, we had another five of our students represent our school by participating at Elmore Equestrian Park at an Interschool Dressage Competition run by Horseland Bendigo and Girton Grammar on March 10.

This time Quenelda, Charles, Skye, Violet and Darcy did themselves and our school proud in the way they competed on the day. A big thank you to their parents and guardians who did all the “leg work” in helping the students get their ponies ready prior to the day, on the day and in transporting them to and from the event.

The riders results on the day were as follows:

Quenelda Knowles-Mulholland on Mouse - competed at Preparatory level and placed 4th in the Preparatory P2 class.

Charles Lew on Tamlyn Park Dragonfly  - competed at Preparatory level and placed 5th in Preparatory P2 class.

Skye Starritt on BP Atomic Blonde - competed at Preliminary level and placed 5th in the Preliminary 1.2 class.

Violet Lew on Primrose Park Limerick competed very well at Preparatory level.

Darcy Knowles-Mulholland on Misty - competed very well at Preliminary level.

As a school, the Moama Anglican Grammar team placed 13th overall (out of 43 schools!) which is a huge achievement – well done to the team of both riders and horses.

On a completely different note, we have had some positive feedback from parents and guardians at school drop-off time since we have changed the traffic arrangement outside the front of the main office. Being able to make this area a cars only one, so that parents and guardians can pick up their children from the school side of the drive through road, seems to have made for a more convenient and safer pick up afterschool.

It has been a busy term, as Term 1 always seems to be, and we still have our annual athletics carnivals and Easter Bonnet activities to look forward to before the term is out. We also continue to provide great learning opportunities in the classroom before we all enjoy a well-deserved recharging Easter break.
