Life Ed Visit
The ‘Life Education Van’ will be visiting St. Joseph’s Glen Innes during Week , Term 4 (Tuesday 10th-Thursday 12th October). The modules and sessions presented by the visiting educator supports the school’s teaching and learning in the Key Learning Areas of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). The modules and sessions are specially prepared for each learning stage. Each class will attend one session over the three days. Below is an overview of the modules and schedule. Please note: there is no charge. In the current climate, the school will cover the full cost of this performance for each child.
Module Breakdown and schedule for 2023:TUESDAY, - 10th October Stage 3 classes and Kinder Class
Kinder Module - My Body Matters: In this module students learn about choices and behaviours that promote health, safety and wellbeing as they are growing and changing. They explore personal hygiene, healthy food choices, the benefits of physical activity and sleep, as well as ways to keep safe at home, school and in the community. Learning includes:
• The importance of personal hygiene
• Choosing foods for a healthy, balanced diet
• The benefits of physical activity and sleep
• Safety at home, school and in the community
Stage 3 Module: Decisions- In this module students investigate a range of drugs, the laws around these drugs and the different ways they impact the body and brain. Students explore the decision-making process and improve
decision-making skills by looking at choices, consequences, responsibility, facts and
Influence. Learning includes:
• Investigating myths, facts and social norms
• Strategies and skills to be safe
• Understanding what drugs are and how they are classified
• Influences on decision making (peers, family, media, culture, financial and legal)
WEDNESDAY, 11th October:
Stage 2 Module: Friends and Feelings: This module is presented through engaging comic book-style videos, the lesson revolves around a conflict between old friends, Boots and Red. When Red runs off, upset, Boots starts to feel sick in her stomach. With help from their friendship group, they sort things out. Learning includes:
• Broadening and developing emotional literacy
• Identifying and practising assertive communications skills
• Practicing emotional regulation skills such as mindful breathing
THURSDAY, 12th October:
Stage 1 Module: Ready, Steady, Go! In this module students learn to identify body clues and manage emotions that arise in new or challenging situations. They also investigate the importance of physical activity and health
choices. Learning includes:
• Identifying how our bodies react in new situations
• The benefits of physical activity
• What our body needs to be healthy including nutrition, water and sleep
• Safety strategies in different environments

Healthy Harold Merchandise:
The Life Ed Van educator will provide an opportunity for children to purchase products during the school visit - if so desired. Life Education NSW is a not for profit organisation that relies on the support of the community to assist us in reaching our fundraising goals. The sale of Harold merchandise to the children whilst the program is visiting each school supports our overall fundraising activities.
Please DO NOT make online payments to your school. Please provide the correct money in an envelope with the item written on the face of the envelope along with your child's name and class. This allows the educator to process orders efficiently and accurately. Orders will be returned by the conclusion of the visit.
