While it is holidays children can still borrow and read books from our wonderful reading platforms. Storybox library is wonderful with the books being read to them and Sora is excellent for EBooks and Audiobooks. Download them before you go on holidays. There is a wonderful selection of books catering for all our different levels.

There are activities that you can do at home which are based on the book. This site really has quality literature and the books are read by well-known Australians and not so well known holiday

Remember to search for ACEN (Australian Catholic Education Network) when searching for schools. Children will then log into Armidale and then use their Chrome log in to enter the site. There are so many books to choose from. Books are automatically returned after 2 weeks. If you have an Ipad that the children can use, the Sora App can be downloaded.
On Thursday 12 October, we have a special visit from Author and Illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer. Dr Cameron is visiting St Joseph’s Primary School to run workshops with our K-4 students (Year 5-6 students worked with Cameron earlier in Term 3). Kinder students will enjoy an interactive Big Screen Book Reading and follow-along drawing activity with Cameron. Stage 1 students will participate in a writing workshop focusing on idea formation and inspiration for narratives. Stage 2 students will engage in a writing workshop exploring the combination of words and visual elements. Students and teachers are looking forward to a great day! In conjunction with the Author Visit, St Joseph’s families have a special opportunity to purchase signed and personalised copies of Cameron’s books at special prices. Individual books are $10-$15 each and there are also exclusive book sets available. Students will receive an order form on the day of the workshops (payment is via the online payment portal listed on the form; no cash). Forms can be returned the following day, to the Office.
We've survived a very busy but fun term. We had a Zoom Author, Book Week focussing on all the beautiful shortlisted books and fisnished it off with a book character parade and book fair. Plus we were busy borrowing all our wonderful books. The new library furniture inside and outside was enjoyed at breaks. Below is a round-up of all the fun we had in Term 3!
Around the staff room table we often discuss what we are reading and as it's holidays we were

Mr McManus - The Book Thief - Marcus Zusak
Mrs Baker - The Travelling Cat Chronicles -Hiro Aarikawa
Mrs Adams - The List - Yomi Adegoke
Mrs Core - The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding - Holly Ringland
