Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing
The term has been flying by and so much has been happening both in school and in the broader community. Students and staff are showing signs of fatigue and we are reminded to be kind to one another. Most year groups have been busy completing assessment tasks and handing in assignments. Year 7 and 9 have completed the NAPLAN tests and coped well with all the associated stress. The College looks forward to receiving data on our students and using that to guide our teaching. Remember that parent/teacher/student conferences in week 11 are a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, to get feedback on their progress and also to seek or provide clarity over any issues that may have arisen this term.
I receive many enquiries from parents about how to guide their teenagers and ensure they have a positive online experience. They often feel somewhat out of their depth and the apps our youth are using are constantly changing and evolving. An excellent free resource is the
eSafety Commissioner . On this website you can find resources to help inform you and also ways to open communication with your teenager. It covers a wide variety of topics and is easy to navigate. The parent tab contains links that can be further explored.
Please remember to contact your child’s Pastoral leader if you have concerns beyond the classroom. Together we can help support the journey through high school, ensure their wellbeing is being tended to and hence provide the best basis for learning.
