Learning & Teaching

Mr Damien Herb

I am pleased to report that MCC has successfully navigated this year's NAPLAN Tests with all Year 7 and 9 students completing the exams.

MCC is one of the first Schools to finish these exams and thanks must go to Mr Summerville who supervised every test and Mrs Fisher in the Office for her preparation and organisation of the materials.

I would also like to thank our IT team for their technical support and the Pastoral Leaders Mrs Taylor and Mr Buckland for assisting, along with all the staff who supervised.

Results will be issued to parents and staff at the end of Term 2.

Prior to this though, MCC is offering parents and students the opportunity for a productive learning conversation to determine Term 1 progress and suggested direction for the rest of 2023. On Wednesday the 5th of April, Progress Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held from 3:45 - 7pm via Zoom. Parents can book these appointments via Compass, and I encourage all parents to do so, ensuring that their child is also available to take part in the learning conversation.

Finally, this coming Wednesday staff will complete the second GAP (Growth Action Plan) Meeting for the Term. These meetings are held twice a term for all staff in small groups, and target students that require further extension and enrichment in their learning. These meetings, over the past four years, have been an enormous success and provided targeted strategies to improve student learning.

Yours in learning,

Damien Herb
