Assistant Principal News

Assistant Principal Lora Segrave

We had a fantastic two days this week meeting Year 6 students from our feeder Schools St Mary’s Yoogali, St Patrick’s Primary Griffith as well as a number of the public schools across Griffith. The students were extremely enthusiastic and engaged with our Transition lessons with gusto. In Science they got to  undertake a scientific investigation with water beads and in History they stepped back into Ancient Egypt and created their own names in Hieroglyphs.

It was lovely to see them bonding as a combined group as they started to create new friendships. It was also pleasing to see them becoming comfortable with our College staff, surroundings and expectations. Our Transition program is essential in assisting Year 6 students to step into High School in a controlled and stress free manner and this was clearly evident during their time with us.

My thanks go to Mr Alexander, Miss Jensen, Mrs Field, Mr Munro, Miss Dangol, Mrs Swan, My Lyon  and Mr Webb for welcoming the Year 6’s and sharing their subject passion and expertise with them.

We are already looking forward to seeing all of the Year 6 students again next term, for Transition session number 2!

Yours in Learning,

Mrs Lora Segrave
