Year 8 Medieval Day

On Friday 3rd March all Year 8 students participated in an incursion led by some passionate medieval educators. Students were immersed in the history of Medieval Europe, which they have been studying in class this term. Throughout the day, students put their talents to the test when participating in medieval archery and games. Armour and weapons were brought to life in an informative session where students were able to feel the weight of a knight’s armour. Brave volunteers were able to face down and attack a fully armoured knight with a lance, whilst learning the principles of medieval tournaments. Others were locked in the stocks during the crime and punishment session. All students should be congratulated for their enthusiastic participation on the day.

“I enjoyed learning about Medieval Day in a more hands on way. It was great to do activities where you get to participate and have fun while learning.” Wren Tafra, 8C

“I love that you could learn about the time for people back in the day, like you got to learn about what type of games they played, the rules, punishments, the armour people wore to battles and lastly how they fought. It was quite an interesting day.” Ariana Albanis, 8A

“I really enjoyed the medieval games because it was really fun to play the games, but also fun to experience what people would have done in that time.” Mathilda Lee, 8C
