School Wide Positive Behaviour

Positive Acknowledgment Chronicles

The Schoolwide Positive Behaviour System (SWPBS) is a cornerstone of our Wellbeing and Inclusion Framework at GSSC.  SWPBS brings together school communities to develop positive, safe and supportive learning cultures through the explicit teaching of respectful and positive behaviours, consistent response to behaviours of concern; and feedback and positive acknowledgement of students who demonstrate our expected behaviours.

One way GSSC Staff can acknowledge students is by a positive acknowledgement chronicle on Compass. Students and their parent/carer can check the positive acknowledgment chronicles online by clicking on their initials in the top right corner of the initial Compass page.

This will take them to a page where they can see how many positive chronicles they have earned, with notes telling them what they were given for, and which teacher has awarded them.

Over the first five weeks of Term Two, our positive acknowledgment focus has been for students bringing the required equipment to class. Nearly 14,000 positive acknowledgments were awarded to students during this time.

Thank you to our teachers for acknowledging when our students are displaying the expected behaviour.  The top five houses were:

Lachlan House (Biyala Neighbourhood) with 1448 positive acknowledgments.

Goulburn House (Dharnya Neighbourhood) with 1724 positive acknowledgments.

Keiwa House (Dharnya Neighbourhood) with 1960 positive acknowledgments.

Second place with 2018 positive acknowledgments in Murray House (Biyala Neighbourhood).

First Place with 2184 positive acknowledgments is Warrego House (Bayuna Neighbourhood)

Congratulations to Warrego House – not only have you won the PAC Cup, you will have a free lunch on GSSC. Please refer to next weeks student bulletin for details regarding the lunch.

New PAC Cup Focus

"Right words, Right Place"

To continue to ensure that our college is inclusive, respectful and safe, our Focus for the next PAC Cup is ‘Right Words, Right Place.’ This focus reinforces our College values of:

  • Aspiration: we aspire to excellence in all that we do
  • Integrity: we act in a way that is honest and trustworthy
  • Respect: we show care for ourselves and others
  • Responsibility: we are accountable for our decisions and actions

In demonstrating ‘Right words, Right place’, our students are refraining from swearing and using racial or homophobic put-downs. We encourage you to have a discussion with your children around the importance of ‘Right Words, Right Place.’
