I hope all our runners have recovered from the SSATIS Cross Country held on Thursday 26 May at Hobart's Queens Domain.
It was once again a great day and our athletes represented themselves, their teammates and the school in great spirit.
Well done to each and every runner who never gave up and tried their best despite the cold and the hills along the way.
It was fantastic to see so many St Mary's girls at the finish line cheering on their friends. Another school's teacher even mentioned that the cheering clearly helped our runners overtake a couple of competitors right at the end, so well done!
I would like to thank our Captains, Mia and Millie, pictured below, for their amazing support of all the runners throughout the day.
What a great example they have set for our future captains (and I'm sorry the girls ate all of the snacks, so you didn't get any after your run)!
Another big thanks to Georgie Harris, Gaby Stuebing and Lily Czeszek who came along to help cheer on the team and also assist with marshalling duties around the course.
Although it was a team effort, I would like to acknowledge the following amazing results:
Results:
U14s
1st: Alet Le Grange
2nd: Kate Fox
3rd: Billie Salter
U15s
2nd: Jessica Smith
U16s
1st: Cate Clingeleffer
In more great news, the U14s, U15s an U16s also took out their respective Age Group pennants, with St Mary's College finishing second by just one point in both the Junior and Aggregate Shields. Well done!
