Take a bow, Drama 3!

Whisking the audience away with a story full of adventure, surprises and a little bit of magic, our Drama 3 class recently produced Kate Mulvany’s adaption of Ruth Park’s classic tale, Playing Beatie Bow to great audience review.

Under the guidance of teacher and director, Leah Wallace, the talented ensemble (Madelin Bannister, Ashlee Cripps, Mikayla Foster, Amelia Howell, Samantha Lowry, Maddison Rolls, Grace Simonetis, Eliza Topham and Laura Thomson) delivered a strong and memorable performance for audiences at the Moonah Arts Centre.

Playing Beatie Bow follows Sydney teenager Abigail Kirk as she deals with her parents’ messy separation.  Abigail ends up following the mysterious young girl Beatie Bow back through time—from the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s The Rocks in the present day to the year 1873, when the suburb was full of struggling immigrant families, gangsters and a whole host of larger-than-life characters.

With the help of Beatie, her wise grandmother, and the whole Bow family, Abigail goes on a wild adventure through the twisting alleyways of history in a race to find her way home.

The students were supported by a backstage crew of generous Year 7 helpers—Piper Bell, Lea Jenkins and Talia Wighton.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our budding actors—their cheer-squad families, staff, members of the community and our amazing volunteer’s on the door, Paola Keller and Gaby Stuebing!
