Intermediate Boys Netball- 3rd in Casey North Division

On May 19, the intermediate boys Nossal netball team played at Casey tech stadium. All the boys were pumped and were confident that we were going to win after the many, many training sessions we had. Our first game was against Fountain Gate was very challenging, however we tried out best to cope. After 4 intense 7-minute quarters, we lost, but it was a close game with the final scores being 12-11. Our second game was against Gleneagles B, and we breezed through the game winning 26-0. Our third game was also an easy dub against Timbarra with a score of 25-3. Our 4th game was against Berwick, and they got the better of us - with good sportsmanship and fair play, though! We ended up losing 16-6.

Even though the team knew we couldn’t make finals, we still played our fifth game against Gleneagles A with the last of our energy and the motivation from the promised chips from Miss Pumphrey if we scored 20 points. In the end, we won 21- 5, and Miss Pumphrey fulfilled her promise and got us chips 😊. Big shout out to the team (Matthew, Kohilan, Arjun, Samko, Ethan, Sai, Diyon, Dylan, Navish, Ved, and Yun), the coaches (Jheel and Arpita), the other teachers (Miss Bonham and Mr Houghton), and of course, Miss Pumphrey for organising the event and helping the team out a lot. Next time, we are going to close the gate on Fountain Gate.

Senior Boys Netball- Casey North Division Champions

On Thursday 19 May, the senior boys netball team went to play at the Division finals. We played three games on the day, with each game being just as difficult as the last. In our first game against Gleneagles, we, after being behind for most of the match, managed to come back to win by just one point. Our next game against Hallam was just as close, with Nossal managing to come out on top once again by one point. Our last game against Fountain Gate, although not as close on the scoreboard, was still just as intense, with us winning by six points.  I’d like to praise all the boys in our team, who despite the extremely close score lines still managed to calm their nerves to make sure we ended up winning at the end. I’d like give a particular shout out to our midcourters, whose ability to get intercepts really helped us punish the other teams on the scoreboard.  Great work everyone and I can’t wait to see how we’ll go at regionals.

Senior Boys Volleyball

After a good win at Division Volleyball, we were pumped to play the Regional Volleyball competition which turned out to be a valuable experience for all of us. Despite closely losing our opening two matches, all of the boys played amazingly and our efforts proved worthy as we ended the day off with a win. Although we could could move on to the State play offs, we put in everything we had, and ultimately had lots of fun on the day. Looking forward to what the future Nossal Boys can bring to Interschool Volleyball and hopefully seal a win at Regionals!

Senior Girls Softball

Congratulations to the senior girls softball team! On Thursday 26 May, our Nossal softball team finished as runners up in the state games. We topped our section against two other schools, and entered the grand finals against MacRob. Everyone played their fielding roles spectacularly while incorporating good communication and teamwork out on the field.

Well done to the positions as follows:

Pitcher - Keisha Yam and Janice Lim

Catcher - Mary Yun

First Base - Kiran Kleingeld

Second Base - Anita Chao

Third Base - Sabina Lim

Short-stop - Jasmine Lam

Outfield - Manvitha Raju, Rasna Preman and Sineka Premaratne

Mentions of Angela Huang, Jessica Nguyen and Saki Sivanathan who were unfortunately unable to attend the game.

Despite the cold and wet weather, each player gave it their best and brought home the runners up banner along with second place medals - We are all proud of each other and found it an amazing way to end 2022's interschool softball journey.

Thank You

The Softball Team
