McClelland Europe Arts Tour 2021

MCCLELLAND EUROPE ARTS TOUR 2021

Having just returned from our second tour, it’s time to begin plans and promotion for the third! We have plotted out our itinerary and it’s currently with three different educational travel companies so that they can prepare a quote; this will allow us to get the best deal for the students. Once the company is chosen, we’ll organise and promote an information night for interested students and their parents to attend for all key information and how to move forward from there, however, you’re certainly welcome to express your interest now.

Both previous tours have been an exceptional success. In January 2017, we took a group of students and parents to London and Paris, this year we went to London and Rome with a few days in Venice at the end, and in January 2021, we will be taking students to London and Athens. We have already had considerable interest in the opportunity and much of this has come from students who’ve already been on one or both of the previous tours!

This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for students of (or simply interested in) the Arts.  This tour will offer unique workshops and backstage passes, question and answer sessions with industry professionals, as well as the opportunities to attend many different musicals, theatre, galleries, museums, concerts and more. Students who study Art, Drama, Dance, Theatre and/or Music will be engaged by this tour, however, it is open to everyone who would be interested; many fabulous sightseeing and cultural opportunities are included, such as the Parthenon, Tower of London, a cooking class in Athens, the Theatre at Epidaurus, the London Eye and the Harry Potter Studio Tour, to name just a few of the many exciting experiences that students will enjoy. Again, this tour is not limited to students of the Arts, it simply has an arts focus but with many other fabulous opportunities and experiences thrown in!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • It’s a twenty-one day tour in both London and Athens
  • It also includes days in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bath and Epidaurus
  • It leaves and returns in January 2021 – you will not miss any school.
  • You will also not miss Christmas or New Year’s Eve.
  • It will be winter in Europe when we go
  • The tour will be organised and run through a reputable education travel company
  • This tour is open to any McClelland students.
  • The cost of the tour needs to be covered by the student’s family, however, the group will do fundraising to offset spending money and additional expenses.

If you were keen to go on this amazing tour, unique to our college, to receive more information or to clarify anything written here then both parents and students are encouraged to contact Emma Sproule at the college. Parents can reach her via the college phone number 9789 4544 or email via Compass, and students can come to her office.

Testimonials from 2019 travellers:

RETURNING TRAVELLERS

Being able to go on the trip for a second time was so surreal for me. I am so unbelievably grateful that I was able to be a part of these trips which are now some of my best memories. Through both trips, I have made so many amazing friendships that I never would have made otherwise. Overall I highly recommend this trip for anyone who has the opportunity because it is truly such a rare and special experience that you will remember forever.

LAUREN CHITTY (YEAR 11)

Second time around, yet a completely different experience! Getting to go back to Stratford Upon Avon and London was a dream come true, as there was so much more to see and do! Even when doing some repetitive activities, there was never a dull moment as getting to experience it with a new crowd of excited students was worth it within itself. Italy was outstanding. Not only did we get to experience arts related events such as water colour lessons but the history and architectural side of it was just as amazing. I already promised myself, on just the first day, that there’s no way I’m missing out on the next trip! I’m so excited to see all things Greece and also go back and enjoy the beautiful Stratford and London.

2018 STUDENTS

This was my first overseas trip and even though it was daunting, it was absolutely worthwhile. I met some great people and enjoyed just getting away from life and seeing something new each day. Even if you're not an arts student it's worthwhile just for the experience and I absolutely plan to go back in two years!
