Principal's Report

Mr. Millar's Trip

Last week Mr Millar departed Melbourne on a four week faith formation program in Ireland.  He arrived safely in Dublin and was transported to Mount St Anne's Retreat and Conference Centre.

This four week retreat provides a unique opportunity for learning techniques that will help participants incorporate contemplative practices into their leadership style, workplace and daily life.  The program will be complemented by opportunities to visit and engage with local school communities.

From his reports, the weather has been cold and snowy, a huge contrast to what we have been experiencing this past week.  We look forward to hearing about Mr Millar's experiences and how he celebrated St Patrick's Day.

Year Four Camp

On Wednesday the Year Four students and five staff members  boarded a bus headed for Angahook Holiday Camp, Aireys Inlet, near Anglesea.

Some of the camp activities that students and daring teachers will participate in are:  giant swing, ropes course, archery and canoeing.  We hope the students and teachers challenge themselves to take calculated risks and achieve things they may not have experienced before.

Camp provides students with opportunities for personal growth, building the community spirit and being immersed in the natural world. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences when they return on Friday afternoon.

Thank you to Anastasia Romios, Colleen Giles, Amy Burns, Tarren Otte and one of our regular emergency teachers, Kingsley Hill, for taking the Year Four students on camp.  We thank our Outdoor Environment leader, Tarren Otte, for organising such exciting and adventurous camps for our students.

Aboriginal for a Day

On Friday 24th March, the school will participate in an  'Aboriginal for a Day' incursion, hosted by Cultural Infusion.  This all day program will have students immersed in Australian Indigenous culture.  The incursion will be interactive and engaging, encompassing storytelling, face painting, arts, dance and a didgeridoo music showcase. Students will develop a new understanding of the rich and ancient traditions of Australia’s first inhabitants.

Thank you to Jane Ferris for organising this event for the students.

EpiPen Auto-Injector Recall

Alphapharm Pty Ltd, following consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, is recalling the following batches  of EpiPen 300 microgram Adrenaline Injection Syringe Auto-Injectors due to the potential that these devices may contain a defective part that may result in the device failing to activate or requiring increased force to activate.

BATCH NUMBER

5FA665 (expiry Apr 17)

5FA6651  (expiry Apr 17)

5FA6652 (expiry Apr 17)

5FA6653 (expiry Apr 17)

If your child's EpiPen has the above batch numbers with the expiry of Apr 17, you need to replace it with a new one as soon as possible by returning it to your pharmacist.  Your pharmacist will replace the EpiPen FREE OF CHARGE.  You must keep the current EpiPen until you get a replacement and use it if required.

Parking Safety

We know parking around Galilee is minimal and at drop off and collection times is very hectic but for the safety of children and all families, the school driveway must not be parked in or used as a drop off/pick up area.

School Photos

The school photos will now occur on Thursday 20th April.  All students will be required to be in full summer uniform.  If your child has sport on this day, they can bring their runners and change into them.  Information on how to order and purchase the photos can be found in this newsletter, in 'Upcoming Dates'.

End of Term One

Friday 31st March is the last day of Term One.  On this day there will be a morning assembly on the basketball court to parade Funky Hair Day hairstyles and draw the Easter Raffle.  Families are invited to attend the assembly.  A reminder that school will finish at 1:30pm that day.

Term Two will commence on Wednesday 19th April.

Thank you for your support this term.  It has been a busy one with lots of events taking place.  The staff at Galilee wish you all a safe and happy Easter.  Enjoy this time with your family and friends.
