School Leaders

This week from our School Leaders:

Environment Captain:

Mayra

Hello, my name is Mayra, I am one of the Environment Captains this year. As an Environment captain I want to organise more talks and speeches by experts about environmental problems and our native wildlife. I also want to have recycling bins in the school yard and TerraCycle bins in the office. TerraCycle is an organisation that recycles items that would usually go to landfill, for example, pens and straws. I think that it is important to care about our planet and that everyone can make a change. I am more passionate about the environment than anything else, that is why I am very proud to be environment captain.

During the application process, I have learned that I could speak in front of a crowd without getting too nervous, and that writing a speech is a longer process than I thought.  I would like to thank my amazing family and friends for their support and all the Monty teachers and staff that encouraged and helped me throughout the years. I hope I will make Monty Primary the most sustainable school possible. 😊

Sports Captains:

Felix

Hi, I’m Felix a sport captain at our school. As a sport captain I hope to encourage everyone to do their best. This role is important to me because I have loved sport for as long as I can remember.  I also love being active.

Going through the application process I learnt:

  • 300 words is a lot.
  • It takes dedication and hard work to become a leader.

At school my favourite subjects are P.E and Music. I also love learning and playing the keyboard. Outside of school I like to stay active. Things I do are: athletics, soccer, Mt biking and rock climbing. Last weekend I competed at the State Championships for Little Athletics! This was very exciting for me.

Being active takes you to amazing places, if you go hiking you see lots of beautiful views. I’ve been Mt Biking all over Victoria and feel really lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Aston

Hi my name is Aston and I am Montmorency Primary school’s new Sports captain. What I hope to achieve is to get all students involved in school sporting activates. This role is very important to me because I have a massive passion for sport. What I have learnt throughout the application process is that Sport has made a massive positive physical and mental impact on my life and that’s why I love sport so much. I am most passionate about Mountain Bike Riding (MTB) I just love the thrill of flying through the air on a bike. I can get very nerves when I compete and also sometimes stage fright

Yours sincerely Aston
